Restoration to begin on Rio's famed statue of Christ
CWN - March 15, 2010
A $4-million restoration project begins this week to repair erosion damage on the giant statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Workers will patch and replace the soapstone exterior of the 125-foot statue, which has stood over the city since 1931. The project is expected to conclude in June.
