Pope reinvigorated at conclusion of Lenten Retreat

March 01, 2010

As the week-long Lenten Retreat for the Roman Curia ended on Saturday, February 27, Pope Benedict XVI remarked had drawn great support from the spiritual exercises "and with renewed courage we now wish to face our mission." The Pope thanked the preacher for the Lenten Retreat, Father Enrico Dal Covolo, for guiding the participants "along the path of renewal of our priesthood." He said that the preacher's "passionate and personal reflection" on the priesthood had provided inspiration, as had his decision to offer meditations on the lives of five men who could serve as models for priestly ministry.

The Holy Father also commented on the beauty of the Redemptoris Mater chapel, where the retreat was held. He said that he had found his meditations enriched in particular by a mosaic of Mary, Seat of Wisdom.
