Italian pro-lifer wins European party chairmanship

Luca Volonte, an Italian pro-lifer, has been elected chairman of the European People's Party, defeating a liberal rival. The new chairman was immediately presented with a number of challenges on culture-of-life issues, including a report noting the 15th anniversary of the Cairo conference on population growth and calling for worldwide respect for "sexual and reproductive health rights."
