Less than year after ordination, Illinois priest attempts suicide, charged with abusing boy

A priest of the Diocese of Joliet who survived a suicide attempt has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a boy. The alleged incidents took place between 2005 and 2009. Father Alejandro Flores, 37, was born in Bolivia, ordained in 2009, and served as parochial vicar of Holy Family Parish in Shorewood, Ill.
Father Flores received his seminary training at the Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wisconsin.
