New Mexico’s bishops oppose domestic partnership legislation

New Mexico’s bishops are opposing an effort by Gov. Bill Richardson, a Catholic, to create domestic partnerships for homosexual couples. “The bishops are instructed by Catholic teachings not to give any ground that would lead to same-sex marriage,” said Allen Sanchez, executive director of the New Mexico Conference of Catholic Bishops
