CWN Editor's Note: A Massachusetts prosecutor has confirmed that a laicized priest who died last week was facing charges for the murder of a teenage boy in 1972. Richard Lavigne had been the main suspect in the case since the death of Danny Croteau, but prosecutors had not found sufficient evidence to warrant criminal charges until recently, when Lavigne—who had always maintained his innocence—made incriminating statements to an investigator. Prosecutors were seeking an arrest warrant when Lavigne died at the age of 80.
