Vatican renews accord making Euro its official currency

The Vatican has entered into a new monetary agreement with the European Union, continuing the status of the Euro as the official currency of the Vatican city-state. The new agreement, replacing an earlier accord of December 2000, was signed on December 17. The agreement governs the Vatican’s coining of its own Euros and regulates the terms of exchange.

    Well, extremeCatholic, that's to the extent that the EU recognizes the sovereignty of any of its member states. Wait till its Court of Justice decides, say, that the Vatican discriminates against women because they can't become priestesses, and issues an order that they be ordained. It has already overturned laws of several member countries.

    This a good story because it means that European Union still recognizes Vatican sovereignty.
