Russia and Vatican to establish full diplomatic relations
December 03, 2009
Russia and the Holy See have agreed to establish full diplomatic relations. The agreement was announced on December 3 after Pope Benedict XVI met with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.
Since 1990, Russia has maintained a mission at the Vatican. That representation will now be upgraded to a fully accredited embassy, and an apostolic nunciature will be established in Moscow.

Russia does nothing to benefit anything but Russia itself and a relationship with the Vatican is probably done to reduce strength of the Ukrainian Catholics, who have the same liturgy as Orthodox. This irritates Russia no end. Russia is a bully.

Hope Vatican is aware anything Russia does with its Russian Orthodox Church and the VAtican is to advance the civil affairs of the Russian state.

I am glad for that country and her people. Our Pope is on the mark and he deals with many countries with authority. They recognize the veiled 'Jesus' who speaks through him and I believe many hardened hearts can grasp Actual graces received by his (His) presence. I pray for Benedict daily. He has more to contend with, concerning the whole globe, than many leaders.
