Christians face death without fear, Pope says
November 05, 2009
Pope Benedict XVI presided on November 5 at the traditional Mass celebrated in the Vatican basilica each year in November for the bishops who have died in the past year. A number of the cardinals present in Rome concelebrated.
In his homily the Pope said that the lives of faithful prelates "gave proof of assiduous vigilance, of generous dedication to the cause of the Kingdom of God." While death is "an enigma charged with anxiety," the Holy Father said that "for believers, however it comes, it is always illuminated by the 'hope of immortality." The faithful should confront death without fear, he said.
