Bishop Tobin wants meeting with Rep. Kennedy to discuss abortion stand
CWN - October 29, 2009
Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, has written to Congressman Patrick Kennedy, saying that he would like to meet with the lawmaker to discuss Kennedy's public position on abortion and health-care reform. Bishop Tobin said that he would emphasize the "clear and consistent" support of the Catholic Church for a reform plan that would protect the right to life. The bishop had reacted sharply to Kennedy's criticism of the US hierarchy for failing to support the reform program.
