In an interview with an Italian Catholic blog, Messainlatino, the secretary of the Ecclesia Dei commission, Msgr. Guido Pozzo, confirmed that Pope Benedict XVI intended his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum to apply to the entire universal Church-- not only to those already involved in communities that celebrated the Tridentine Mass. Msgr. Pozzo added that the faithful have the right to the extraordinary form, and the Ecclesia Dei commission will help those who seek it.
The New Liturgical Movement site has provided an English translation of the interview.
