Pope prepares to leave summer residence

On October 1, Pope Benedict XVI gave his thanks to religious and civil leaders of Castel Gandolfo for their help and hospitality during his summer stay there, as he prepared to return to the Vatican on Saturday.
In his brief remarks, the Holy Father took note of the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, saying that her "little way" offered a healthy alternative to a society dominated by "a rationalist culture and widespread materialism."
