Free entrance to Vatican Museums, catacombs for European Heritage Days

September 11, 2009

Continuing what has become a regular annual policy, the Vatican Museums will be open to the public free of charge on September 17, as the Holy See joins the Council of Europe in celebrating European Heritage Days. Entrance to the catacombs in Rome will also be free that day. The Vatican is opening a special photographic exhibit in the St. Callisto catacombs on September 26, on the theme: "Customs and Grave Goods of Rome in Late Antiquity: Christian, Pagan and Jewish tombs compared."
