September 10, 2009
The Vatican has unveiled plans for a November meeting between Pope Benedict XVI and artists, to be held in the Sistine Chapel, marking the 10th anniversary of the publication of Pope John Paul II's letter to artists. Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, told participants at a September 10 news conference in Rome that the meeting was aimed "to renew friendship and dialogue between the Church and artists, and to encourage new opportunities for collaboration."
