Pope meets with top Berlusconi advisor

Amid recent tension between the government of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the Italian bishops’ newspaper, Pope Benedict took time from his schedule during his pastoral visitation to Viterbo to meet with Gianni Letta, the prime minister’s undersecretary from 2001 to 2006. “My smile says it all. I’m happy and serene,” said Letta after the meeting.
