Catholic flee Viet city; police want "No Catholic Zone"
July 30, 2009
Catholics are leaving the Vietnamese city of Dong Hoi to avoid violent assaults in the wake of brutal police raids there. Police officers are reportedly backing gangs of toughs who are roaming the city's streets, chanting anti-Catholic slogans and threatening anyone identified as Catholic. Government officials have reportedly suggested creating a "No Catholic Zone" in the city, where two priests remain in critical condition after being savagely beaten.
