Federal court upholds parental notification law

The 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a 1995 Illinois law that requires physicians to notify parents two days before a girl has an abortion. Bob Gilligan, executive director of the Catholic Conference of Illinois, said that “for the first time in decades, Illinois will enjoy an entirely reasonable, if minimal, restriction on access to abortion.”
