White House: Catholic surgeon general nominee supports Obama on abortion
July 15, 2009
The White House has assured abortion advocates that the president’s nominee for surgeon general shares the adminstration’s position on abortion.
Dr. Regina Benjamin, a board member of the Catholic Health Association, “supports the president's position on reproductive health issues,” said spokesman Reid Cherlin. “Like him she believes that this is an issue where it is important to try and seek common ground and come together to try and reduce the number of unintended pregnancies.”
