English bishop raps dissent by priests, bishops

Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue of Lancaster, who has been increasingly vocal in his criticism of dissent within the Church, has charged that bishops who refuse to give unequivocal public support to the teachings of the Church are encouraging priests to ignore both the Holy See and the bishops themselves. "This cocktail of dissent, disobedience and disloyalty has resulted in what I call 'a conspiracy of silence' amongst groups in the Church," the bishop said.
