The Italian magazine Panorama claims that there are heated debates inside the Vatican on issues such as inter-religious dialogue and diplomatic relations with China. The sparring includes the heads of powerful dicasteries, and challenges the role of the Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, as the Pope's most powerful aide, the magazine says. Panorama also reports a conflict between Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the former Secretary of State, and Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow over the latter's drive for quick beatification of Pope John Paul II.
