Irish PM demands religious orders reveal extent of assets

At a June 24 meeting with leaders of 18 religious orders implicated in the physical and sexual abuse of children between the 1930s and the 1990s, Irish Prime Minster Brian Cowan demanded that the orders reveal by mid-July the extent of their assets. A government commission will then evaluate the orders’ ability to provide additional compensation to victims.
