Irish government demands religious orders do more to compensate victims

Commenting on a damning report that documented systemic abuse in Catholic institutions, Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowan said his government would summon religious orders to face-to-face meetings and demand that they do more to fund counseling for victims. The prime minister announced that the Christian Brothers have agreed to provide additional funding.
