Swiss bishops ask pardon for sexual abuse

December 07, 2016

Switzerland’s bishops gathered at Valère Basilica in Sion on December 5 and asked God for forgiveness for sexual abuse within the Church.

“At the express request of Pope Francis, we wanted as an episcopal conference to organize this common time of prayer for all victims of sexual abuse,” said Bishop Jean-Marie Lovey of Sion.

As they prayed penitential psalms, the bishops also asked God to show them how to approach victims who are “profoundly disappointed by the Church and no longer want to know anything about it.”

I don't know how many times different parts of the Church and the Church itself has asked for forgiveness and apologized for serial abuses. Time to get off our knees and get out of the Church anyone found to be involved at whatever level. Then let the accusers know the results and move on. The abused have a right for justice but many want money and revenge. Time to stand up.
