Ukrainian bishops recall Holodomor

December 01, 2016

Ukraine’s Latin-rite and Eastern-rite bishops recently recalled the Holodomor, the 1932-33 famine and genocide in which millions of Ukrainians perished under Stalin’s rule.

“The ineffable suffering of our people was due to various godless ideologies,” the bishops said in a statement for Holodomor Remembrance Day. “Making joint efforts to clean our past, each of us must make a sincere examination of conscience, asking God to forgive the evil that had taken place, and may continue to take place in our lives.”

Depending on the source, more people died in the Holodomor than in German concentration camps. Starvation is a particularly nasty way to manipulate a population. Why was it not until 7 November 2015 that a Holodomor Genocide Memorial was opened in Washington D.C.? Its opening was accompanied by statements of angst and hate published in the national media: "the wall will make a good hiding place for criminals at night" (paraphrase from memory), for example.
