Papal praise for conference on protecting heritage sites in war zones

Pope Francis has lent his support to efforts by France and the United Arab Emirates to protect historically and culturally significant sites in war zones.
Referring to an upcoming conference in Dubai on this “unfortunately, dramatically relevant” topic, Pope Francis said on November 30 that “in the conviction that the protection of cultural heritage constitutes an essential dimension of the defense of the human being, I hope that this event marks a new stage in the implementation of human rights.”
