Cardinal Parolin: do not neglect those with rare, tropical diseases

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, called for greater investments in treatments for those with rare diseases and undertreated tropical diseases.

Speaking at a Vatican conference, the prelate discussed the link between extreme poverty and some of these diseases and called for greater access to safe drinking water, housing, and education. He also called for greater media attention to the issue.
