DC city council approves assisted suicide

The city council of Washington, DC has approved a measure that would legalize physician-assisted suicide.
The “Death with Dignity Act” was approved by a vote of 11 to 2. The council must vote on the bill a 2nd time before it would go to the Mayor for his approval. Congress, which exercises jurisdiction over the District of Columbia, could block the legislation.
