Georgetown appoints Hindu chaplain

August 31, 2016

Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic institution in the US, has become the first American college to engage a Hindu priest as a campus chaplain.

Brahmachari Vrajvihari Sharan has been appointed to provide spiritual leadership for the Hindus studying at the Jesuit university in Washington, DC. Father Greg Schenden, a Catholic chaplain, explained to the Washington Post that the school's goal is to encourage spiritual growth for all students, regardless of their religious faith.

What makes our "Catholic" institutions Catholic these days? Where is the oversight needed to keep them on track? Who is running the railroad. Are we so afraid of losing someone who is offended by the truth that we ignore the truth and took the other way? God help us!

There are two things one can do in life. 1) Preserve what is because it is good; 2) show that you are a real progressive and go where angels fear to tread. Modern times refuse to do 1) in virtually every sphere of importance: religion, politics, and science. Apparently it will take some time before it is realized just how regressive progressive is.

Georgetown is not a Catholic university as defined by the Church's teaching in Ex Corde Ecclesiae. It has not been so for some time. Any secular school could sign on to a goal:encouraging spiritual growth of all persons regardless of Faith. Query spiritual growth defined how? Indifferentism/syncretism alert? Awful.

I wonder if this chaplain will be encouraged to resolve troubled consciences in the internal forum.

Wow....for God to look down from Heaven and see a "Catholic" University helping young men and women practice a religion that worships many gods, and not the One True God, is heartbreaking. The First Commandment of God is quite clear. How much more will we insult and mock Him?! So, let us welcome all, but let us not sin and lead others to sin; let us love one another and teach The Truth of Jesus Christ. He has shown us such love....look how we repay Him.
