Colombia's bishops welcome government decision against gender ideology in schools
August 17, 2016
The Catholic bishops of Colombia have welcomed a decision by the government of President Juan Manuel Santost against introducing gender ideology in the country's public schools.
After an August 11 meeting with President Santost, the bishops said that they had "received with satisfaction" the government's word that 'they will not promote or implement gender ideology in the country."
The bishops had requested a meeting after reports were circulated indicating that the government would start new programs advocating acceptance of homosexuals and teaching that gender is a matter of personal choice.
