Pope has lunch with Syrian refugees

August 11, 2016

Pope Francis hosted a group of Syrian refugees for lunch at his residence on August 11.

The 21 refugees, who were brought to Rome by the Pontiff after his April visit to the Greek island of Lesbos, had the opportunity to tell the Holy Father about their early adjustments to life in Italy, where they are living under the patronage of the St. Egidio community.

Some of the Syrian refugees traveled on the papal plane when he returned from Lesbos; others arrived in June.
