Protect the oceans, Ecumenical Patriarch urges
June 09, 2016
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who holds a primacy of honor in Eastern Orthodoxy, has issued a message for World Oceans Day, which took place on June 8.
“Now, more than ever, it is crucial to respect and protect this invaluable and inalienable resource of our planet, which is a unique source of nurture and biodiversity,” he said. “Our dependency on fossil fuels drives society’s indifference toward creation care.”
