Curial leaders meet with Pontiff

May 30, 2016

Pope Francis met on May 30 with the heads of the offices of the Roman Curia. The agenda for the meeting was not made public.

Pope Francis has made a practice of holding occasional meetings with his chief aides. The last such meeting was in November 2015.

After the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, and prior to the conclave that elected Pope Francis, many cardinals suggested more frequent meetings of the Roman Curia. There were, in fact, suggestions that a "moderator of the Curia" could be appointed to chair these meetings and coordinate plans. Pope Francis has chosen to chair the meetings himself.
