Polish troops to mobilize for World Youth Day security
May 20, 2016
The Polish Army will supply troops to help ensure security for the World Youth Day celebration in Krakow in July.
Polish government officials have expressed concerns about security arrangements and emergency preparations at the Krakow site, citing the difficulty of providing medical care and allowing for quick evacuation. The army plans to erect four temporary bridges to allow for easier traffic flow.
Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow has consistently voiced his confidence that security measures will be adequate to protect the 2 million people expected to attend.
