Chaldean Patriarch begs for end to attacks
May 17, 2016
Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako has issued a new plea for peace after a series of terror attacks in the Baghdad area that claimed 30 lives.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing at a gas plant north of the city, in which at least 14 people died and 20 were wounded. Other incidents around the city caused another 16 deaths.
The Chaldean prelate, noting that such bloody attacks have become "a daily constant," called upon Muslim as well as Christian clerics to "forcefully reject the wave of fundamentalism and sectarianism" and work together toward peaceful coexistence.
