Data-security breach at Denver archdiocese

April 20, 2016

A security breach in the computer system of the Archdiocese of Denver, Colorado, has compromised the privacy of current and past employees.

The archdiocese revealed that a payroll-processing contractor had discovered a breach, in which someone had gained access to personal information about 80 employees. The information was stored in a data base that contains information about 18,000 employees, their spouses, and family members.

While investigating the security breach, the archdiocese has notified employees whose information may have been compromised. The archdiocese did not disclose whether or not any employees have been victims of identity theft.
