Pope writes preface to book on Trappists slain in Algeria
April 07, 2016
Pope Francis has written the preface to a French book devoted to the seven Trappist monks of Tibhirine, Algeria, who were abducted and murdered in 1996.
“Twenty years after their death, we are invited in our time to be signs of simplicity and mercy, in the daily exercise of the gift of self, following the example of Christ,” the Pope wrote in the preface to Tibhirine: L’héritage, which was published on April 6. “There will be no other way to combat the evil that weaves its web in our world.”
