Cardinal Marx calls on Europe to be ‘constructive actor’ for peace
March 08, 2016
As the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) gathered in Brussels on March 3 to discuss “Europe’s vocation to promote peace in the world,” Cardinal Reinhard Marx, COMECE’s president, called upon Europe to be a “constructive actor” on behalf of peace.
“The question of peace is more important than ever,” he said, as he called for reflection on how “Europe can be a constructive actor for peace in the world, particularly in its immediate neighborhood in the Middle East and in North Africa but also in Ukraine.”
