Lebanese, Brazilian scholars awarded 2015 Ratzinger prizes

A Lebanese philosophy professor and a Brazilian theologian have been awarded the 2015 Ratzinger Prizes, honoring excellence in scholarship.

Nabil el-Khoury, who teaches philosophy at the Lebanese University in Beirut and at the University of Tubingen in Germany, is the Arabic-language translator of the works of Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI.

Father Mario de Franca Miranda, SJ, has taught at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro and at the Jesuit theological faculty in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He served on the International Theological Commission from 1992 to 2003, under then-Cardinal Ratzinger.
