Jerusalem patriarchate to hold special prayers for peace in all parishes
October 23, 2015
The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has announced that all of its parishes—whether in Israeli, Jordanian, or Palestinian territory—will hold a special hour-long prayer for peace on Sunday, October 25.
Jewish and Muslims are welcome to attend the hours of prayer, which were organized at the request of a Palestinian Christian youth organization in response to Pope Francis’s appeal to pray for peace.
In a related development, Israeli police have lifted temporary restrictions that banned young men from entering the Al Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount. The restrictions were imposed in September in response to a series of violent confrontations; they were lifted in time for Friday prayers at the mosque on October 23.
