Priest kidnapped in Syria in 2013 is reported still alive

October 21, 2015

Father Paolo dall'Oglio, an Italian Jesuit priest who disappeared in Syria more than two years ago, was recently seen alive, according to the Syrian Observatory on Human Rights.

Father dall'Oglio, who was apparently kidnapped in July 2013, was spotted in Raqqa, in northern Syria, according to reports two men who defected from the Islamic State.

There have been no confirmed reports about the Italian priest's whereabouts since his disappearance, although there have been many rumors. But Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako recently told reporters that he is confident Father dall'Oglio is still alive.
