New report lists cardinals who expressed express serious concerns about Synod to Pope

October 13, 2015

Partly confirming an earlier report by journalist Sandro Magister, the Jesuit periodical America has reported that 13 cardinals wrote Pope Francis on October 5 to express serious concerns about the synod of bishops’ working document and procedures.

Following the publication of the earlier report, four cardinals listed by Magister as signatories denied that they signed the letter. America reported that the correct list of 13 cardinals includes Cardinals Carlo Caffarra, Thomas Collins, Daniel Di Nardo, Timothy Dolan, Willem Eijk, Gerhard Müller, Wilfrid Napier, John Njue, George Pell, Norberto Rivera Carrera, Robert Sarah, Elio Sgreccia, and Jorge Urosa Savino.

Father Thomas Rosica, a Vatican spokesman, posted a link to the America article on his Twitter account, thus lending credence to the new report.
