Synod rules to eliminate bishops' final report, leave Pope to deliver message?
September 30, 2015
New rules for the Synod of Bishops, to be introduced at the October meeting, will include elimination of both an interim report and a final message from the bishops, according to a report by Edward Pentin in the National Catholic Register.
The new rules—which will be unveiled by the Vatican on Friday, October 2—will reportedly leave Pope Francis to deliver the final message on the Synod’s discussions. Citing “informed sources,” Pentin writes that Pope Francis wanted “nothing in writing” from the Synod fathers.
