The Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference has sent a message of solidarity to the people of Lesotho amid rising political violence.
“We call for open dialogue as a way of solving the problems that are facing Lesotho,” the bishops said in their statement, which was released on August 17.
Condemning “any form of violence, especially when it is being done by the state,” the bishops added, “We pray for peace in Lesotho and ask the government to respect the human rights of its citizen and to promote tolerance of different opinions.”
