Vatican issues stamps commemorating saintly Armenians

The Philatelic and Numismatic Office of the Vatican City State has announced that it is issuing stamps in honor of St. Gregory of Narek and Blessed Ignatius Maloyan.

Pope Francis proclaimed St. Gregory of Narek a doctor of the Church in April; Blessed Ignatius Maloyan, an Armenian Catholic archbishop, was martyred during the Armenian genocide in 1915 after he refused to convert to Islam.
