Reversing a decision made less than two weeks before, Bishop Rafael Zornoza Boy of Cádiz and Ceuta has determined that a 21-year-old woman who identifies herself as a man may serve as a godparent at the baptism of her nephew, Diario de Cadiz reported.
The woman, Alex Salinas, has not yet undergone a sex-change operation, according to a previous Spanish media report.
Salinas said that the priest of the parish in which the baptism will take place told her that the bishop realized he had made a mistake and that Salinas could serve as a godparent.
