New undercover video shows Planned Parenthood official bargaining over price of fetal organs
July 21, 2015
A new undercover video has been released, showing a senior official of Planned Parenthood bargaining about the price of organs harvested from aborted babies.
The Center for Medical Progress-- which last week released a video in which the senior medical director of Planned Parenthood discussed the techniques for harvesting fetal organs—made public a new video on July 21. The 2nd video shows Mary Gatter, the president of Planned Parenthood's Medical Directors' Council, negotiating the price of fetal tissues.
While she says that Planned Parenthood is not interested in making a profit on the sale of fetal body parts, Gatter says that she does not want to be “lowballed.” She jokes that wants a good price because “I want a Lamborghini.”
Gatter—who is the medical director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Pasadena— speaks on the video about the method of abortion best suited to harvesting tissues. Although it is illegal to use a different abortion technique in order to harvest fetal organs, Gatter dismisses that “specious little argument” and assures a questioner that her clients (the woman procuring abortions) will not be concerned.
The revealing comments by Gatter are particularly damaging to Planned Parenthood because Cecile Richards, the president of the organization, had responded to the earlier video by saying that Planned Parenthood does not seek to profit from the sale of fetal organs. The undercover videos have prompted calls for an investigation of Planned Parenthood practices.
