New Notre Dame law dean backed Obama, other pro-abortion candidates April 02, 2009

Nell Jessup Newton, the new Joseph A. Matson Dean of the University of Notre Dame Law School, has donated to the campaigns of President Barack Obama, presidential candidate John Kerry, and other pro-abortion candidates, according to Federal Election Commission records. “In Nell Newton, Notre Dame has gained a superb scholar, a proven academic leader, and a person deeply committed to the University’s mission,” said the university’s president, Father John Jenkins, CSC. “She will help us continue and deepen education and research in our law school, and I am delighted to welcome her to Notre Dame.” Candidates supported by Newton include Jackie Speier, who was endorsed by the pro-choice organization Emily’s List; Susan Longley, an openly lesbian Maine legislator who played a key role in halting pro-life initiatives; and Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd. According to Federal Election Commission records, Ms. Newton has made $7,550 in contributions to recent campaigns:
