Ghana’s Christian leaders condemn Islamist attacks on Christians

May 08, 2015

Ghana’s bishops met with the Protestant leaders of the Christian Council of Ghana and issued a joint statement in which they decried the persecution of Christians.

After discussing domestic political issues, the Christian leaders noted “with sadness and grief the systematic and persistent persecution and murder of Christians on the African continent and elsewhere in the world by Islamist terrorist groups. We strongly condemn these atrocities and call on all Ghanaians to pray for an end to these senseless killings.”

The leaders also praised the nation’s chief imam for speaking out against Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda.
