Despite security fears after massacre, bishop reports healthy Catholic community in Garissa, Kenya

The Catholic Herald profiles Bishop Joseph Alessandro, a native of Malta, who now serves as auxiliary bishop in the Garissa, Kenya diocese.

The Capuchin missionary reports that in Garissa—the site of a massacre of Christian university students last month—security is a constant concern for the Church. Nevertheless, he says, the Catholic community is vigorous; he baptized 28 children at the Easter vigil.
