Prayers for peace at Baltimore parishes

May 05, 2015

Twenty parishes held Eucharistic adoration and other special prayers for peace in the days following the Baltimore riots, according to the archdiocese.

“People are coming to our parishes looking for such things as food, diapers, clothing, and even cash for basic necessities,” the archdiocese noted.

“Neighborhood stores that were looted need money for repairs and to restock shelves,” the archdiocese added. “Parishes also need clothes (for adults and children) and food to distribute to residents who now have no access to stores in their community, either because they were looted, burned or because the curfew prevents them from being able to go there at night.”

The archdiocese also placed a full-page advertisement in the May 3 issue of the Baltimore Sun. “With God, we can heal a broken city,” the ad stated.
